Jordan Hale is the pen name of the editor behind CalcWise. Jordan builds and maintains the site's calculators and writes its guides on mortgages, affordability, closing costs, and paying off a home loan.
Jordan is not a licensed financial advisor, mortgage broker, or tax professional, and nothing on this site is personal financial advice. The goal is narrower: to show the math behind homebuying decisions clearly, so you can ask better questions when you talk to a lender or advisor.
How articles are checked
- Rate, tax, and fee figures should come from primary or authoritative sources — state revenue departments, the CFPB, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, the Census Bureau, the NAIC — listed on our Methodology page. Older articles are being re-reviewed against these sources.
- Worked examples are computed with the same formulas the calculators use, so an article and a calculator never disagree.
- An article shows an "Updated" date once it has been re-reviewed or its content changes materially.
